MARRIAGES
Alabama now requires a Marriage Affidavit, in lieu of a marriage license, to get married. Below is the link that will allow you to fill out your affidavit and print it. After printing, each spouse should have their signature witnesses before a notary public. The date that both signatures are notarized is the marriage date. It is important to have the affidavit filed in the Marion County Probate Office within 30 days for the marriage to be a valid marriage. The filing fee in this county is $74. This filing fee includes a certified copy of the marriage affidavit.
