Larry married Vera Gilliland Sept 29th, 1973. The two recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Larry and Vera, a retired RN, have two daughters, Felicia Harris, a teacher at Guin Elementary, and Shelly Akers, administrator for Sheriff Kevin Williams. Larry has handsome grandsons and one granddaughter.

Prior to becoming Commissioner, Larry worked for 3M Company for over 36 yrs. At 3M, Larry worked as hourly employee, Quality technician, Production Supervisor, Quality Control Lab, Process Control (writing SOP’s) for all production operations, Environmental, Health and Safety, E-squad Coordinator, and traveled the US installing Experimental Material in 4 different test decks and traveled overseas to France and China starting up operations in new 3M facilities.

Larry’s hobbies include cheering on the Crimson Tide, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. Active member and Deacon of Guin First Baptist church.
